Viewing Grades in Canvas Grade Book - Canvas Users

1. Open the course grade book

Navigate from the Canvas dashboard

• Select the course you want to review.

• On the course homepage, choose Grades in the left navigation menu to open the Canvas grade book.

2. Review grade book controls

Adjust settings and manage files

• Use Import to upload a CSV file of grades.

• Use Export to download a CSV copy of the current grade book.

• Open the settings gear to configure late work rules, posting policies, and display preferences.

3. Confirm Breakout Learning grade entries

Check how graded experiences appear

• Note that any Breakout Learning experience with grading enabled will automatically send scores to the grade book.

• If an experience is assigned without grading enabled, it appears without a grade column.

• For students who have not completed the activity, expect dashes or blank cells.

4. Review student progress

Interpret recorded results

• Use the populated columns to view each student’s scores and overall progress in the course.
