Protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Breakout Learning implements physical, administrative, and technical safeguards designed to protect personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive data.

These safeguards include:

  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest, where applicable.
  • Role-based access controls and authentication mechanisms.
  • Secure software development and coding practices.
  • Regular security monitoring, testing, and system audits.
  • Administrative policies that limit access to participant and institutional data to authorized personnel.

Breakout Learning is designed to comply with FERPA and acts as a "school official" under the direct control of your institution. We are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, its UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, hold a SOC 2 Type 2 report and TX-RAMP Level 2 certification, and support GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and other privacy laws through our Data Processing Agreement.
