Assigning Breakout Experiences 

Add breakout experiences and customize settings for your class in Breakout Learning

1. Open your class

• Go to the Classes page.

• Select the class where you want to add an assignment.

2. Add an assignment

• On the Class detail page, choose Add an assignment.

• Browse the Experience catalog for available breakout experiences.

• Select an experience to review its summary, instructor and student materials, and a preview of the student discussion.

3. Configure assignment settings

• Set the due date and define the time window students have to complete the assignment.

• Decide on grouping options:

  • Allow students to form their own groups.

  • Assign groups manually.

  • Use advanced grouping to randomize group assignments.

• Set the maximum group size (up to 8). Students cannot exceed this limit, but instructors can override it.

4. Set grading options

• Choose whether to grade the assignment.

• If grading is enabled, adjust the weighting for:

  • Quiz scores

  • Attendance

  • Completion

  • AI-powered contribution score

5. Save or publish the assignment

• Save the configuration as a draft if not ready to publish. Drafts will appear grayed out.

• Publish when finalized.

• Note: You must add at least one assignment before inviting students to the class.
