Launching a Breakout Learning Assignment - Canvas Users
Start your assigned Breakout Learning session through Canvas
1. Locate your assignment in Canvas
Log in to Canvas and open your course that includes Breakout Learning activities. In the left-hand navigation menu, select the Assignments tab. This page lists all upcoming course tasks, including your Breakout Learning sessions, along with due dates, availability windows, and grading details.
2. Open the Breakout Learning platform
Find the relevant Breakout Learning assignment and click to open it. A prompt will appear asking to open the experience in a new browser tab. Confirm to launch the Breakout Learning platform, where your module will display its scheduled session time and additional tools such as chat and progress tracking.
3. Review your module details
Once on the module page, take a moment to review your assigned pre-work, quiz, and discussion details. If you haven’t yet completed the pre-work or quiz, do so before the scheduled session to ensure full participation access.
4. Begin your Breakout assignment
When the session start time arrives, click Start (or Join) Session on the module page to launch your Breakout experience. This will take you directly into the interactive session environment where you and your group can collaborate in real time.
