Creating a Breakout Learning Assignment

Create and configure a new Breakout Learning assignment for your class.

1. Open your class

  • Select Classes from the top navigation.
  • Open the class where you want to create an assignment.

2. Add an experience

  • Click Add an Assignment.
  • Browse the Experience Catalog.
  • Select an experience to review its summary, Instructor resources, participant materials, and sample discussion.
  • Click Add to Class to begin configuring the assignment.

3. Configure the assignment

Configure the assignment settings, including:

  • Assignment Dates – Set the assignment availability, due date and late submission cutoff.
  • Grouping Options – Choose how participants will be assigned to groups.
  • Grading Options – Enable or disable grading. If grading is enabled, configure the weighting for each grading component.

4. Save or publish

Choose one of the following options:

  • Save as Draft – The assignment is saved but is not visible to participants.
  • Publish – The assignment becomes available to participants.

Note: You must publish at least one assignment before inviting participants to your class.
